Robert's Story
I enlisted in the Army a month after graduation from high school at 17 years of age. After separation from the service, I went to Creighton University where I graduated in 1964. I was commissioned in the Army and by 1965 I was leading a company in Vietnam with the 1st Air Cav Division. After serving with the 101st Airborne and attending school with the Marines at Quantico, I returned to Vietnam in 1968 to work with the Marines. During the rest of my career I served in Germany and Korea and spent much of the rest of my career...Expand for more
commanding airborne units from company thru brigade in in the U.S southeast. I received my MBA from the University of Nebraska and I retired from the Army in 1993 in Washington State. I completed my working career at the Washington Department of Retirement until I retired in 2004. Joan, my wife of 46 years, and I live in Surprise Arizona. We have two daughters: Gina who retired from the Air Force as a colonel and Rebecca who is a civil engineer in Arizona. We have two grandchildren: Juliana who is eight and Kenvin who is 1.
