Robert's Story
After graduating high school I joined the Navy, went through electronic and radar training, and then was stationed on an aircraft carrier (USS Constellation, CV-64) in San Diego, CA. I was in the Navy for 4 years and got out in late 1980 with an honorable discharge. I moved to Huron and worked at a job there for a little over a year. bout a year before I got a call from a navy buddy who told me ITT Gilfillan in Van Nuys, CA is hiring. They're the OEM of the radar I worked on in the Navy. I worked for them for 34 years, retired in 2018, got offered a job with another company to work on the same radar on navy ships in San Diego. I took it and after 2 years I decided my body didn't like climbing the steep ramps and tall ladders on the ships anymore so I resigned. Been relaxing ever since. We have 4 grown kids and 6 grandkids, youngest being 7 and oldest being 20.
