Robert's Story
Collette and I celebrated our 40th anniversary on June 1, 2014.
We have lived in Naples, Florida since 1997.
I travel to Oregon 15 weeks each year where I am the Library Director at Western Seminary in Portland and the Director of Libraries at Corban University in Salem. I also teach Masters students online throughout the year. I am online each day to do the rest of my work..
After Westlake and Franklin and Marshall I sent a year on the staff of Campus Crusade for Christ, Athletes in Action Weightlifting Team. I was in school from 1974 until 1981 earning Masters degree in divinity, history and library science and a PhD in theology. I had a short stint with the Houston Public Library before joining the faculty at Western Seminary in 1983. I was at Trinity International University in Deerfield, Illinois as Univ...Expand for more
ersity Librarian from 1993-1997 and then back to Western. I added the Corban directorship in 2014 when the two libraries combined into a single system. There are about 3000 students total at the two schools.
At F&M I abandoned football and wrestling and only threw the shot put for two years. I took up Olympic Weightlifting and competed from 1969 through 1980. I weighed between 198 and 242 pounds and snatched 314 pounds and clean and jerked 391 pounds. I was third in the National College Meet and was the Northwest regional champion for most of the 1970's. I came back as a Masters lifter in my 40s from 1993-2000 and won the American championships four times, finished second in the Pan Americans, and third in the worlds. I now trial light about 3 times per week.
