Robert's Story
MARCH 14, 2011
This is being updated by Bob's wife, Linda.
On April Fool's day, 2009, Bob was diagnosed with stage IV Renal Cell Carcinoma(kidney cancer). He left us for eternal life with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on January 24th, 2011. Bob wrote about his journey on CaringBridge. His posts and his story can be accessed there-his account name is boblockman.
I know Bob was able to reconnect with many of his old friends from school. He had many fond memories of his days there, especially the theater performances.
This bio is spur of the moment and off the top of my head. Considering my advanced age it could also be fictional as alot of what has happened in my life has been shrouded in the mists of my mind.
After living El Cap and spending a short period at Grossmont JC, I joined a Christian street theater co. based in San Diego. That little theater co. you might know as the huge theater complex known as Lamb's Players. I only stayed with them for a year and a half. I then hied me hither to Minnesota to go to Bethel College. I felt right at home. I liked seeing lots of green in the summer and I actually enjoyed winter. There is nothing like the feeling you get after spending about four months all bundled up when you see the first touch of green haze in the trees and feel the warmth of the first 5...Expand for more
0 degree weather. Anyway, I spent three years at Bethel before I figured out that I was not meant for college. Actually, they asked me to leave because I was too busy messing around in the theater dept. Shortly after I left , while I was working at the Renaissance Festival, I met Linda. After a couple of tempestuous years, which included an engagement, a disengagement(on her part), and a re-engagement, we got married in 1980. We are still married and are the proud and somtimes frazzled parents of Tom(age 18) and Ellie(age 14). After many jobs that included food service, retail, educational theater, and for an abysmal 6 months working in a wood shop, I finally found my niche as a Clown. Bobbles the clown, to be precise. Now all of you can say I told you so. This pat year I have been working a seasonal job at a local historical site. I have been portraying a U.S. soldier from the 1820's. The last couple of years I have renewed my interest in the War between the States (the Civil War) and went so far as to join a local re-enacting organization. Linda keeps busy as a costume shop supervisor which includes sewing costumes for current productions and keeping the costume shop organized for a local community theater. She also is an excellent cook and uses her skill catering and working in our church kitchen.
