Robert's Story
Life
I moved to California in 1965 (middle of my senior year). After high school, I spent 4 years in the Air Force and 3 and 1/2 years in the Naval Air Reserve. I eventually went back to college, completing a BS in Engineering from California State University Northridge in 1977 and an MS in Electrical Engineering from Stanford University in 1978. I worked for 30 years at Sandia National Labs in Albuquerque, New Mexico where I managed an engineering department that supported instrumented missile flight tests for the National Missile Defense. I retired in 2007 and am enjoying the best job (retirement) that I have ever had! I have been married for over 40 years to my wife Sharon and have 3 children - Mega...Expand for more
n, Erin, and Thomas, and 7 grandchildren. I am an avid runner, averaging 50+ miles a week and spend lots of weekends running in races, including marathons. I was a competitive cyclist for many years, and still enjoy riding. In 2011, I rode my bicycle across the United States, from San Diego California to Tybee Island Georgia. There is still life left in this body!! I also enjoy riding my motorcycle (Ducate 848 EVO). I volunteer lots of time to Boy Scouts and entertain myself by playing the piano and fly fishing whenever and wherever I can. I spend my summers working for the Boy Scouts at Philmont Scout Ranch in Northern New Mexico.
After all these years, I have to say that life has been good to me!
