Robert's Story
Life
I attended Upsala College in East Orange, N.J. I worked in various jobs in and out of NYC: Good Humor Man (summer), flower delivery, steel pipe factory, lab technician in a paint factory, and Wall Street to name a few. I briefly attended the American Academy of Dramatic Arts in NYC. In 1969 I moved to Los Angeles where I continued my education and worked for 10 years doing accounting in the restaurant supply business (S.E. Rykoff & Co.) I married Anna Madden (native of Scotland) in 1974. In 1979 I moved to Ventura, California. There I continued work in accounting for a number of companies including Sambo's, Wilderness Group Inc.(aka Alpenlite), Seven Up Bottling (Div of Westinghouse) and Clarke Checks. In 1986 I went to work for a CPA firm but switched my job focus to computer networking. I no longer do accounting. Since moving...Expand for more
to California I have pursued back packing, rock climbing, photography, and canine obedience. I was a Certified Novell Instructor for 10 years and am currently member of Toastmasters. Anna and I have had a very happy marriage for 25+ years. We live only a few miles from my son, his wife and our two granddaughters.
For the last eight years I have been a volunteer on the Ventura County Sheriff's K9 Search and Rescue Unit. It has become a passion. My partner is a bloodhound named Fausto. In the mean time I have been involved in many successful searches for people who have gone missing. Most of our searches involve either hikers or altzheimer's patients. I have been training dogs for the past 9 years and bloodhounds for the last 5 years. I've included a picture of me and Fausto taken at a winter training at Mt. Pinos, CA in 2005.
