Robert's Story
Life
Well, you know my name, if you reached this far. I am the 4th child of five, the son of Robert D. Sr., and Dorothy McKelvey. I have 3 older sisters, and 1 younger brother. We were all born in Ohio. My sisters being born in Massillon Hospital, Massillon, Stark County, Ohio, while my younger brother and I were born in Orrville Hospital, Orrville, Wayne County, Ohio. My parents moved the entire family to Florida, where we settled in Dade City, Pasco County, Florida, when I was about 2 or 3 yrs old. We all then grew up in Dade City, and graduated from the changing name of Pasco High School. The two eldest daughters graduted from the old location (now Pasco Jr High), and the 3rd daughter, myself, and my brother granduated from the latest name, "Pasco Comprehensive High School", in Dade City.
I graduated in 1971, of course, and then, while going to "Tampa Technical Institute, studying "Electronics", I worked also with my father's television business. I graduated in 1972 also, with an Associate Degree in Electronics. So, between 1972-1979, I continued to work with my father. In 1974, I went to College in Cincinnati, called the "College of Applied Science", but a subsidiary college to the University of Cincinnati, studying computer programming. School
Well, I decided to change my bio. But, haven't decided what to say. I enjoyed school, so I can't complain too much. So, I will just say hi to(those) friends, I liked, and boo, to those I didn't. College
After graduating from high school, the first "Higher Education" or "College" I attended, was Tampa Technical Institute, in Tampa, Hillsborough County, Florida, and was studying "Electronics", in the years 1971-72, while also working with my fathers' business, explained further below. I graduated with an "Associate Degree in Electronics" in 1972, as well.
I continued working with my father's television sales and service business between 1972 and 1979.
Then in 1972, I went to Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio, to attend the
"College of Applied Science" (a branch of the University of Cincinnati), for 3 months. I returned to Florida, and again, worked for my father's television and radio business, repairing and selling all kinds of Electronic products,
Radios, stereos, televisions, video recorders, etc.
I finally decided to move north, and got a job, in Ohio, with Smyth Business Systems, working on Electronic Cash Registers, in 1979, to 1983, when I came back to Florida, for my father became ill, and to help with the family business. He died then in January 1984 of lung cancer. I, still did not enjoy the Television business, so moved to Orlando, and worked for International Cash Register, (now defunct, but classmates.com has it listed as National Cash Register), and again, worked with Electronic Cash Registers, and Computer type Cash Registers. So, my career field is Electronics,dealing with Electronic devices, cash registers, and computers. And then, the rest is history!
