Robert's Story
Life
Joined Air Force after leaving Temple City. Played a lot of baseball/softball and football while in the service. Won the Most Valuable Player award at the 1973 Shrine Bowl game in Naples, Italy. Did this as the Quarterback. Wasn't so shy and quiet any longer. Married with 3 grown sons. Oldest boy (28) will be the last to marry this October. Still very active in church (Senior Pastor) and also run an investigative business. The church is small (70) and I need to work. My wife (Susan) is a high school math teacher in Moreno Valley. We recently moved to East Highlands ranch just East of San Bernardino where we had lived for 25 years.
College
Graduated from Cal State University in San Bernardino with a degree in Criminal Justice. Was tough to get through college as I was a full time Cop and full time Dad (3 boys). Military
Joined the Air Force right out of High School and was on my way the 4th of August, 1966. Basic in Texas and a very long Technical school at Sheppard AFB, TX. It was 36 weeks long. Then went to a radar site in Goose Bay, Labrador. Hey, this was not the best of starts!!! Left there and went to Vandenberg AFB, CA. Liked that assignment and then married my present wife. Thats right, same girl for 34 years. We then went to Norton AFB, CA and went to a traing school in Texas before going to Italy. Great assignment for 2 and a half years. Played Football again and was the quarterback for our base team. Changed my style since High School and played what I wanted....not what I was told!!! Left Italy and became an OSI agent for the Air Force. Investigative school was in Washington D.C. and it was very good. Did that until I left the service and became a Police Officer.
