Robert's Story

Life Wow writing a biography is such a task. One tries to stay away from being boastful yet needs to communicate facts. So here goes ...trying to walk that narrow line. After leaving BHS, I attended Glendale College for two years. Deciding that I wanted to become a teacher and coach. While at Glendale I was on the basketball and track teams and wrote sports for the school newspaper. After two years there I received an athletic scholarship to Chapman College in Orange. My junior high school coach Rollin Bigbee had taken several of us there to see basketball games when we were at Luther Burbank. I was impressed and decided that was where I wanted to go. I spent three great years at Chapman College in Orange, Calif. earning a general secondary teaching credential. I continued to play basketball, high-jump on the track team and write sports for the school newspaper. I met my future wife Elizabeth there. Upon graduating I was hired as a physical education, history, and remedial reading teacher and coach in the Anaheim Union High School District. I married and settled down in San Clemente, Calif. where my wife was a Home Economics teacher. I made the long drive to Anaheim for over 33 years. I was divorced in 1985. after 18 years of marriage and have remained single ever since. I retired in 1999. and have been living the good life here ...Expand for more
in Dana Point, California. I live high on a hill about 2 miles from Dana Point harbor and enjoy my yard (1/4 of an acre) with its' ferns, palms, and other exotic plants. My hobby of raising and exhibiting fancy show pigeons keeps me continually busy. This 2011 I judged birds in Melbourne, Australia and other locations closer to home. I travel extensively showing the birds and also find time to take in the sights when I go to these pigeon shows. I have been to many different foreign countries and continue to travel and enjoy it. In January of 2014 I attended the National Pigeon Show in Oklahoma City and while there saw the Cowboy and Western Musuem. Of interest was a collection of Western items that once belonged to John Wayne. I have one daughter who is 42 and lives a few blocks from me here in Dana Point. We enjoy going to high school basketball games and movies together. No grandchildren at this point however. Life is good I have lots of spare time on my hands, no financial worries and hope to enjoy this life style for a long time to come. I really enjoyed seeing so many of my old high school friends at the 50 year reunion party. I had a big 70th birthday party in June of 2013 and several of my Burbank friends were there. A great get together of my teacher, pigeon, and boyhood friends all in one place at one time. A day to remember..
