Rob's Story
Update: riding my bike from San Diego to Texas; it was very hot and the extra fuel I carry overheated and 'boom' my bike and I were on fireâ¦. I was life-flighted to the nearest burn unit (Lubbock TX); that was on 31 May 2015. I will post some picsâ¦. ) I am doing quite well, and almost all healed up (the surface skin and donor tissue) but my bike is toast. Moving back to Texas in July⦠:)

you at the next reunion!!
Update: well, my wife and I live in San Diego and yes, it is nice. I was stationed here from '82-'87 and always wanted to return. Visitors are welcome anytime, just call first :) We are retired, so we will have time to show you around.
I now have 7 grandchildren and another on the way that will be here any day (my youngest daughter, who graduated OSU in Dec 2012 with a degree in Mathematics has been studying other things :)) And yes, we have been blessed.
Mostly I ride my Harley (Deuce, 2003) and relax. We are now planing on moving back to OK or N.TX this fall; grandkids you know. :)
All the kids and grandkids are doing well; (pics on my FB). My youngest son chose Stanford and he is now just a few weeks shy of his second year. My oldest son; John, now has three children and his oldest just played his first baseball game today. :) My oldest daughter Candace, is busy raising 4 and her oldest and therefore my oldest grandchild Kelsey, goes to college at Rogers State (straight A's and wants to be a dentist like her daddy). She is able to visit my mom (and her grandmother) on a regular basis because Rogers State is in Claremore, at an assisted living and just around the corner from Rogers State.

Ok; so what's my story? Here is a general overview: Joined the USMC after HS, served 22 years, 11 months and 22 days, but who's counting? Retired from the Corps in '96; do I miss it? Yes,. Here is a list of my duty stations:
San Diego, Huntsville AL, Camp Lejeune, NC, Okinawa, Japan, Recruiting duty OKC, Wash DC, Camp Pendleton, CA, Okinawa (again), Camp Pendleton CA (again), Okinawa (again), Coronado CA, Camp Pendleton CA (again) Saudi Arabia/Kuwait (Operation Desert shield/storm), Quantico, VA.
I know reading all that was boring; but I definately was not bored living it. Would I join again? In a heartbeat. The Corps is a good place for knuckleheads like me. And I did have my shining moments (see my pics) so it sort of balances out good times/bad times.
My good times outnumber my bad times; here are a few: 5 grandchildren and counting...(and some twins are cooking!) Thanks Candace and Chad, John and Beca! Youngest daughter grads OSU on Dec 15 (math major)! and youngest son only missed one on SAT! He is applying to Stanford/Princeton/Yale etc... ( I barely was accepted to Whatsamatter U.)
I would like to say hello to everyone that visits my profile; stop by and I'll get you a beer. Later.
