Robert's Story
Where do you start after 35+ years? Maybe some basics...Born in Davenport and graduated from West High in '72. Spent most of my high school time working at Sindt's grille. Most of my evenings and weekends were taken so I didn't have much of a social life at school. Ran around with Terry & Garry Rhodes and a bunch from the Blue Grass area. After high school I started school in Muscatine community college and soon found I couldn't work the hours on the job, chase a new girlfriend, and get decent grades. Dropped and got a job at Caterpillar Inc. Got married, worked on a career at Cat, had 1 very wonderful daughter, and juggled work and life until 1986 when Cat closed in Davenport. ed and moved to Joliet as operations supervisor. Got remarried and divorced after 6 years or so. Kept working hard at Cat. Seems the one strong suit in my life has always been my work. Retired in 2009 after nearly 36 years, retired as Operations Superintendent. No, I never got married again. Love golf, bowling, boating, and motorcycles. Moved to Hot Springs Village to enjoy all the pleasures retirement has to offer. Bought a Bowling Center in 2014 that became a full time job with a great family of employees. Looking forward to our 50th reunion. Would love to hear from some of the folks from my graduating class sometime. God Bless and treasure each other as our time on earth is short.
