Robert's Story
What a time we live in! I remember a dirt road as the street where we lived and a horse drawn wagan where a tinker sold his wares. The old 3 cent postage stamp. Bus rides for 4 cents (with a student ticket) or 12 cents if you paid retail. Our first TV that had a whopping 12 inch round screen with more snow than a blizzard! Oh yes, the DDT spray to kill the catapillers while the kids on the block ran after the sprayer truck. Other than that we survived the Kearny Fish and Chips.
Since then I raised a family working for Bell Labs in Holmdel NJ. The building was closed down in 2005 and I took the retirement package, my wife wife died of cancer and I remarried and have now retired near a 27 hole golf course.
I always wanted to be a engineer when I grew up. My family and...Expand for more
friends thought that was a waste idea. As it turns out, they were wrong.
I enjoy live theater.
I have an Australian Shepherd named Foster (after the beer). He is a fabulous dog and is a hero since he saved a man that was drowning in the Delaware river.
With six adult children I have learned that people must learn life by doing it themselves. As much as a parent wants to save a child from being hurt by a bad decision, in the end every generation rediscovers the same truths.
Since retirement I am now going through a Diaconate training program for the Catholic Church.
I've always enjoyed anything electrical. My first major arc was plugging a set of Christmas tree lights into the wall socket with plugs on each end of the string. WOW! What a black mark it left on the wall.
