After his commission as a 2nd Lt and assignment to the 29th Infantry Division in WWII. 3 purple hearts.
Was blond and blue eyed and spoke fluent Yiddish which he needed in his work as a wholesale shoe salesman in Brooklyn.
Came from a Quaker family in Randolph and Guilford counties North Carolina. I'm especially proud of his grandfather, David Huffines, who was drafted into the Confederate Army (45th NC Inf) and promptly deserted when he got
Emigrated to the US from England in 1883. Was a Rail Road signal fitter.
Hiram Hutchins from an old New England family. He was born and grew up in Canton. Disappeared in 1925 (Thanksgiving) and his body washed up in the river in the spring thaw.
