Robert's Story

Life Moved to Calif from Ind in 1962 after my 9th year. My school in CA had about two times the amount of people than the town I came from. After El Capitan, 4 years in the Air Force, SSgt E-5 Crew chief on B-52's[boyhood dream] and KC-135's. On 1-5-12 I retired from 42 (to the day) from Special Education. Married 39 years (2-23-74) to a wonderful woman, 7 great daughters [3 in heaven] 37,35,33 and 31. All single, A grandchild (boy) born 2-20-2009 but he went to be with Jesus on 11-302010.. We added to our family on 6/25/04 when we adopted a 4 1/2 year old boy. He came into our lives 3/15/02 as a foster child. His name is Anthony Thomas Shaner and is ALL BOY. Loves baseball, chess, reading, school, scouting and his cat. I started going to church in 1976 [to be on the softball team] became one of the church leaders and attended Bible College. I met a man named Jesus in my room at the Hilton Hotel in Las Vegas ( just attending church doesn't make you a christian) during a christen conference in 1982 and He became the most import...Expand for more
ant person in my life. After much prayer I accepted the calling of a minister for the Lord Jesus Christ. I am now with the Four Square church. Part of my ministry has been working with others to reach people with disabilities I am also our church chaplain. Moved to Vancouver Wa. in 1986. I enjoy going back to San Diego area but would never move back. I do enjoy visiting friends there. I love the NW but to many people (most from CA and OR) are moving here. Military In the Air Force from 11-4-65 to 10-29-69. I worked on KC-135's and B-52's.(Boyhood dream for the 52's) Made E-5 at 3 years 3 months. Able to meet some great people(as "BAR" at the Root Beer Barrel) and visited many nice places Home bases were Walker AFB NM, Plattsburgh NY, and Kadena Okinawa. The best part was able to go TDY to Japan, England, Spain, Philippines, Guam, and Thailand.
