Robert's Story

Workplace Robert E. Stachler was born in Dayton Ohio, June 1, 1960. He has earned two Bachelors of Science degrees from Wright State University. The first Bachelor's degree was awarded in Computer Science in 1986 and the second Bachelor's degree was awarded in Computer Engineering in 1994. Between acquiring both Bachelor degrees, he acquired a Juris Doctor at the University of Dayton, School of Law in 1989. He is admitted to bar, 1990, Supreme Court of the State of Ohio; 1991, the District of Columbia Court of Appeals: 1991, United States Court of Appeals, Federal Circuit; 2001, Supreme Court of the State of Georgia; and United States Patent and Trademark Office (Reg. # 36,934) He is one of the firm's former patent examiners with the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office (1994-1997). He has examination experience in computer hardware (including processor architecture; semi-conductor design and fabrication), parallel processors, neural networks, operating systems, memory management, system security, instruction processing, emulation, client/server systems and computer application software. As a result of service as a Patent Examiner at U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, he has in-depth experience in prosecution of both U.S. and PCT patent applications. oviding experience in real-time data processing, database management, a network management. While at Lexis-Nexis, he negotiated over 100 license agreements with some of the largest publishers and database producers in the world. These publishers and database producers include numerous governments (U.S. and foreign). Mr. Stachler practice includes patent preparation and prosecution, and trademark and copyright registration practice. He currently concentrates his patent preparation practice in the electrical and computer (hardware, software and system design) areas. In particular, he has prepared and/or prosecuted patent applications in the following technology areas: processor architecture, semi-conductor design and fabrication, computer networks (including high speed modems, routers and wireless systems), operating systems, memory management, system security, peripheral devices, database management, instruction processing, emulation, client/server systems, e-commerce, neural networks, lasers, medical systems and devices, fiber optics and computer application software. Mr. Stachler has also been heavily involved with foreign filing for domestic clients, particularly through use of the Patent Cooperation Treaty for international filing. In addition, he has prepared and negotiated numerous copyright and patent license agreements.
