Robert's Story
I'm a very fortunate person. At age 21 I met an extraordinary woman who was, and still is, uncommonly loving, caring & selfless. We've been married since 1973 & have two grown children.
Our son went to college in Washington D.C. & I was able to re-connect with old friends who had relocated to the D.C./Baltimore area. Laurie Berk, who lived in Chevy Chase, became our unofficial guide to D.C. not to mention the Jewish mother to our son when he couldn't make it home for the holidays (she could make a mean brisket!). Also, my oldest friend, Marc Shapiro, started to date Laurie after our 30th reunion & we would always get together with them when we were in D.C. Unfortunately, Laurie passed away in February 2008 & we miss her terribly.

neider, Debbie Stern, Jim Gordon, Henry Kass & Bill Alzado more often & always had a great time reminiscing about the old days. Although our son is no longer in D.C., we try to maintain our relationships with our D.C. friends. It just seems that although you make new friends along the way, there's just an indescribable special feeling that you have for the friends you grew up with.
Our kids are grown & out of the house but live nearby, a real win/win. We're enjoying being empty-nesters & doing things on our own much more leisurely schedule.
I still live in Cedarhurst & have a strong emotional bond with this place. The demographics of the Five Towns has changed dramatically but I kinda just go with the flow. One day maybe we'll move but it won't be easy!
