Robert's Story
Life
I got a Poli Sci degree from Swarthmore College in 1967 along with best pal Arne Yanof, then lasted 2 weeks in Peace Corps training in St Croix, a month as a Juvenile Prison counselor, then signed up for nuclear missile computer duty with the Army to avoid being drafted and spent a very pleasant 3 years in Oklahoma and Germany, got married to a college friend and camped through Europe for a year after my Army discharge. I moved to Philadelphia, got divorced, spent 7 years as a Head Start preschool teacher before getting a master's degree with the tail end of my GI Bill $$ and star...Expand for more
ting a career as a Librarian. I married a fellow librarian from Drexel and worked 2 years at Villanova Law School before moving to Oregon in 1981. After 4 years living near Crater Lake we moved to Portland where we have lived for 22 years. I have 2 daughters -- one in art college in Chicago and one a H.S. senior. I retired 2 years ago from my electric company librarian job and enjoy the outdoors with my wife. We love cross country skiing, hiking, camping, bicycling, canoeing, house swapping in England and sailing. I still ride my bicycle everywhere just like back at Hicksville HS.
