Robert's Story

It's about time I listed a little about myself...lol. I'll list something quickly and try to expand on it later on. First I worked in the technical end of broadcasting at WSBA TV & Radio. Went to KSTP TV in St. Paul, Minnesota for almost doubling of pay. Wow thats a big big station. Did a lot of studio work, lighting, ran cameras for recording of commercials, running cameras in studio and many remote broadcasts. I found out why they pay so much more. It's cold there...lol. So I left after a year to get away from all that cold...lol. The people were super nice. Came to Harrisburg and did control room work for WHP TV for 5 years. Then Chief Engineer for a 50,000 watt FM station WMSP for a few years. When CB was a fad, I operated a CB radio store for abt 3 years. Sales, repair and installation. Had a few employees. Went to HACC for electronic engr tech. My combined past technical experience in broadcasting and cb repair, amateur radio experience, and good grades at HACC put me in a position where the division chaifman offered me a position at HACC to teach college credit Electronic Engineering Technology, which I did for 5 1/2 years. Cellular radio came along and I got into that. I was one of the people that said "Can you hear me now"...lol. It was actually a lot more complicated than that. I worked some in the switching center but more so out in the field keeping the cellular sites running. Late...Expand for more
r on worked in the engineering dept. We were bought out by 6 different companies over the 15 years I was there. Verizon Wireless was last company to buy the facilities. I got laid off in 2002, and worked for several years at my son's IT company. He does IT work for companies that need IT design and maintenance. He has been doing that for quite a few years. One of my hobbies was radio control airplanes. My son got interested in that too and flew RC planes and helicoptors. Then he got interested in the big planes to where he got his pilots license when he was about 21. Abt 4 years ago he bought himself a Cirrus SR 20 plane. Got his Instrument Rating 3 years ago. Keeps plane at Capitol City Airport. Sometimes he gives me a ride in it...lol. I'm just lucky if I can keep my car running...lol. Im finally able to find time to write this up, because I'm in Houston TX recuperating from a May 24th 12 hour operation I had at MD Anderson hospital. This is a big big hospital. People come here for treatment from all over th he world for cancer treatment. A health situation like that sure got me closer to God. I was a "bench warmer" in church for way too many years. My relationship with God is now on a daily basis. I found there are many healing g verses in the Bible. My purpose in life now is to point people to Jesus, as God leads people across my path. We'll I better go for now. God bless you all, Bob Young
