Robert's Story

After five years in high school, yes, I repeated sophomore year at my request, I went on to Wilkes University, and loved college. Continued on to Marywood for my Masters, and then PA School Psychologist Certification and also PSU. Worked at several facilities as a psychologist, VA Hospital Wilkes Barre, State Correctional Institute at Dallas, PA, CMC's Psychiatric Ward, Friendship House for Emotionally Disturbed Children, Allied Services, Lancaster Lebanon Intermediate Unit, Northeastern Educational Intermediate Unit, etc. Went to the Central 10th reunion and ran into a classmate I had never met, Suzanne Lowndes, one year later, to the day, we were married. Now 28 years. Two great sons, Steven who is 24and recently graduated with high honors at PSU, and William who is 18 and graduating with honors at Abington Heights and is now a student at PSU. Everyone in the family is also a ham radio operator. I have worked over 300 countries, talked through the satellites and even the space shuttle. Served as Red Cross Disaster Chairperson (Scranton), Emergency Management Agency's Radio and Radiological Officer, SKYWARN (NOAA) County Coordinator, Emergency Medical Technician, Fire Fighter, etc. In 1992 I fell from the fire company ladder and was permanently injured. While I wanted to return to work, doctors said no. Turned out I was covered by so many insurance policies that we still make more than if I was working and most is tax free. I did become active at that point in scouting, cub scouts and then boy scouts, as an Assistant Scout Master, Merit Badge Counselor, Unit Commissioner, and Advancement Chairperson. Wife, Suzanne, decided to retur...Expand for more
n to college and finished up with high honors and now a director of nursing at Carbondale Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. To all my friends, please send me an email at WA3LWR at epix. net. Best wishes Bob The wildest thing I ever did at Central? Aside from setting off a piece of magnesium and finding it hard to extinguish? Leaving after first period and going home to relax until after lunch (2 hours), when we were only allowed out for 15 minutes of lunch? Visiting the basement and killing time with the cleaning staff rather than be in class, how many even knew there was a basement? Using CO2 extinguishers as a cold freeze on someone's behind? Getting the Algebra teacher to agree to my missing the class and going to the swearing in ceremony of the new mayor? Getting paid to take movies of the Football and Basketball team for years? Debating with Mr. Mazi whether I should have taken one action or another and winning, or at lest not losing. Using a movie camera to film the "education that was going on inside the school" during a strike and getting caught, but handing off the camera before we got to the office? How about being called to the Principal's office because he had important documents in his file and had lost the key. Being asked if you could open the lock and then telling the Principal to go to the outer office say hi to his secretary and returning to find the file cabinet open. Actually there are many more stories, but some of them might be illegal, or at least not what I wish my son's to know. Now trying to see the World, so far: Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Austria, Egypt, Canada, and soon England and France.

Should the USA declare war on ISIS or ISIL
Maybe a congressional “war” declaration or the approval of an AUMF isn’t the way to go after all. How does one combat an ideology? A belief? Perhaps this isn’t a conventional war t
