Robert's Story
I can¿t believe its been 40 years. After leaving SHS, I attended UNM where I continued my SHS ways showing only a ¿casual¿ interest in academics. I entered the military in 1969 where I was able to successfully avoid combat with the exception of a few barroom brawls. I returned to college in Salt Lake City, Utah in 1971 with a new interest in school and was able to obtain an MBA and a BS in Accounting. I passed the CPA exam in 1977. Along the way, I met and married Pam, my current wife of 33 years. We were blessed with two children, Jason (1975) and Amy (1977). In 1977, I received a job offer in Southern California from an accounting firm which was too good to pass up. I was making $14,400 a year. Wow!! be close to family and friends. Since that time I have worked in both industry and public accounting. I am now self employed and provide tax, audit and consulting for small business clients. Pam has worked in nursing since 1975 and plans to retire from Albuquerque Public Schools in the near future to concentrate on grand parenting. I still compete in sports usually with men my age or preferably older. I am still doing some graduate work, at UNM. (Perhaps trying to atone for a lackluster performance at SHS) Although our first children have long since left the nest and are doing well, Pam and I have recently become parents again. Pam¿s 13 year old nephew has recently come to stay with us and attend school (and be a better student than I was) in Albuquerque. Stay tuned to see how that one goes. Hope to see you all at the reunion.
