Robert's Story
After Hilltop, I earned my B.S. from San Diego State, graduating in '85. I spent the next several years working for a few computer/software retailers in the San Diego area.
Shortly after graduating from college, I met my wife at what was then called "Confetti's" (I think it's a country-western bar now). We married in 1987 at the Spreckel's Organ Pavillion in Balboa Park.
In 1988, we moved to Temecula. While we were there, our two daughters were born. In 1992, I started my own business, representing educational software companies.
In 1997, we moved to Lacey, WA (near Olympia). In 2006, we moved to Tacoma, WA.
I currently work as the Western Regional Director for a division of DeVry, Inc. called Advanced Academics. We help public school districts create online learning programs or virtual schools.
My wife, Lisa, has turned me into a world traveler. When she was in high school, she spent six months living with a family in Chile. In college, she spent a year at the Sorbonne University in Paris.
Since we've been married, we've been to Jamaica, the Cayman Islands, Bahamas, all throughout Europe, several places in Mexico, and Canada. One of the best trips we ever took was a home exchange with a family from Wevelgem, B...Expand for more
elgium. If you haven't done a home exchange yet, I highly recommend trying it out!
My oldest daughter is a freshman at Gonzaga University in Spokane, WA. If you follow college basketball at all, you know who they are. She's a gifted writer and has an amazing singing voice.
My youngest daughter is a junior at Bellarmine in Tacoma. She is an outstanding student and a captain on the cross country team and runs track.
I feel fortunate to have such a wonderful family.
We love living up here in the Pacific Northwest. Yes, it rains a little bit around here, but the scenery is unbelievable! You'd be hard pressed to find another place with better seafood, micro-brews, wines, or coffee (of course!).
I'm still a die-hard Padres and Chargers fan and haven't been able to feel the same way about the Seahawks or the Mariners. I hope the Padres will at least be a .500 club this year. It was disappointing to see the Chargers' season end in Pittsburgh this year. Once again it's "Wait until next year"!
I hope to attend the 30-year reunion. I missed the 10-year event, but did go to the 20th and had a great time. It was good to catch up with folks I hadn't seen in a very long time, and I look forward to doing that again this year.
