Robert's Story

Workplace I started teaching right after graduateing from CSUF in 1969. I was continuously employed in teaching/administration until June, 2008 in Burrel, Tranquility and Riverdale (all in rural Fresno Co.) and for the last 25 years in Fresno Unified (at Bethune and Kratt Elementary.) I was in school administration for several years in Burrel and Riverdale but wanted to get closer to home so I returned to Fresno Unified. After 39 years of teaching I retired from education on June 13th, 2008. Family Life has really been good to us. Barbara Blessing (Hoover '65) and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary this past Jan. 18, 2018. We have 5 married children and 16 grandchildren. What more could a person ask for? fe. Our children are slowly spreading out. One is in Seattle, WA, another is in Marysville, CA, a third has moved to Kingsburg and two remain in Fresno. Retirement I have been involved in genealogy most all my life. Barbara and I just recently returned from a two year move to Salt Lake City where we volunteered our time as Data Analysts for FamilySearch.org. We fell in love with living in downtown Salt Lake and hope to return there for a year or two in the near future. I keep busy as a Social Media specialist for FamilySearch and also speak publicly on genealogy topics to genealogy societies and in genealogy seminars. I have spoken all over California, Oregon and Utah. Irony Our daughter Aimee married Matt Ward and Matt was a Vice Principal at McLane (now a principal at Sequoia Middle School.). Now that is a small world.
