Robert's Story
After High school graduation, enlisted in the Air Force....over 4 years stationed in Texas, Colorado, Virginia, Alaska, Florida, Viet Nam, Korea, Nevada. After Discharge went to Northern IL U. and graduated with Bio-Chem degree. Wanted to enter Vet School...didn't get in. Decided to work for General Motors - EMD and traveled and lived the first 5 years in Haiti, Mexico, Middle East, Asia, Canada and several states. Went through various training programs in Sales and Service and promoted in lower executive management. I closed out my career as Director Of Power, Marine and Industrial business working with Distributors around the world in the sales and marketing of large diesel engines. Extensive international travel throughout career. My career ended after 31 years and I took and early retirement at 55.(2002)
After my employment with GM, I worked as a consultant with several distributors primarily in the marketing and sales of marine diesel engines. I completed my contract after 10 years and fully retired.
I have been married to Pamela...Expand for more
for 35 years, and we have two daughters age 31 and 25...the oldest and attorney working in downtown Chicago, and youngest a Special Ed teacher in Kankakee (she just completed her master in Guidance Counseling). We have lived in Homer Glen (previously Homer Twp) for the last 29 years.
Pam and I have a home on Lake Redstone, La Valle, WS (near the Dells)and we spend a good time there enjoying the area. We also have ownership of two timeshares with Marriot Vacation Club....many options to travel internationally and domestically. Retirement has been great.
My interests include fishing (use to hunt...no longer), Kayaking, boating, archery, bird watching, gardening, staunch White Sox, Bears, and Black Hawk supporter and fan, helping the kids, honey-do's, billiards, WWII and Viet Nam History, and member of several Veteran groups, including the 12th TFW organization for the purpose of meeting (reunions) and communication with members served with in VN.
I am currently a 100% disabled veteran from injuries incurred during service in Viet Nam.
