Robert R.'s Story

A Tribute To My Wonderful Wife Eugenia God granted me the privilege of spending 17 wonderful years with my lovely wife Eugenia before He called her home to heaven. He blessed us with a love for each other and for God that knit our lives together. When I met Eugenia, neither of us was serving God even though she had a holiness background. I knew my future held some unpleasant legal problems so I was up front and told her about all the trouble I had been in. I had already stopped the illegal activities and intended to live a better life. I talked her into attending my parents church and she reluctantly went. She loved my family, but it was not a her church. After we were married, instead of the probation I had hoped for, the court sentenced me to serve time in prison. I knew I was facing a number of years and encouraged her to get an annulment so she could go on with her life. She refused and faithfully visited and supported me during the three and a half years I was incarcerated. I requested that she attend church with the children, and the church she attended was her church in Oglesby. She got under conviction and grew hungry for the spirit. Unknown to me her dream was to have a holiness home. On one of her visits she came dressed like holiness and ask me if I would care if she dressed that way all the time. She looked fine to me and I said it would be alright. She was saved soon after that. I thought I was saved to and when released from prison we started attending church. But I wanted to go to my parent™s church or at least alternate. She took a stand and said she wanted to attend at Oglesby. I went with her some, but often made excuses to stay home. I know she was tempted to give in and miss church to be with me as I let her know that I wanted her with me. She held her ground and soon got sanctified holy. Her life and her spirit were so sweet that I got curious to see what she liked so much about church. After claiming to be saved since I had been released I began to see the difference in the Holiness people and I liked the difference. I saw the Spirit on Eugenia and I wanted that Spirit. I began to seek to get saved and prayed through in 2008. I was instantly...Expand for more
changed and delivered from a strong cigarette habit and my worldly ways. I found the reason she loved church and the Lord! We had always been in love and had grown close, but now our love was deeper than ever as we served God together. I was sanctified less than a year later which brought us even closer than we had ever dreamed. God gave us over 7 wonderful years as a sanctified couple. It was a little bit of heaven on earth. We loved fellowship meetings, revivals and camp meetings! We attended all we possibly could. Eugenia was a prayer warrior and always prayed for our children, our families, and our friends to get saved and make it to heaven. She would go out of her way to talk to sinners or to do a kind dead for someone in need. She had a gift of seeing a need and filling it to the best of her ability. She had faith in God and could always see the good in people. She never gave up praying for them though they often seemed like hard cases. In December 2014 we found some land in Oglesby and purchased it. We worked together and dreamed of a nice home there someday. We had worked hard to clear the place and get our shop built. We put our Ochelata home up for sale and had just started living on the land in our camper. We were so very happy! It was another dream to be in Oglesby near the church and her good friends. She was living her dream. A few days later she achieved her ultimate dream, she winged her way to Heaven. The following poem speaks my heart; The Day God Took You Home; A million times I've needed you, a million times I've cried....... If love alone could have saved you, you never would have died. In life I loved you dearly, in death I love you still. In my heart you hold a place, no one else can ever fill. It broke my heart to lose you but you didn't go alone. Part of me went with you the day that GOD took you home. When God took her to heaven it left a great void in my life and a deep grief in my heart. I do not question Him who knows all things and I would not call her back from that wonderful place we call Heaven. My goal is to finish the work God has for me down here and meet her in Heaven. I know she will be waiting and watching for me there!
