Robert's Story
I graduated June 26, 1961 and joined the Navy four days later. I signed up for six years and was supposed to be on a neuclear submarine, but my poor hearing kept me on the surface. I graduated from electricians school on February 23, 1962 and was assigned to the USS Blandy, a new class Destroyer. I spent the next 3 years touring the world aboard Blandy and was discharged on June 1,1965. cian for Raymond Corp. until I was offered a position with Honeywell Corp. in February of 1972. I worked for Honeywell for 20 years and left in May of 1992 to open my Electrical contracting business.
I met the love of my life Carolyn late in 1967 and we were married on August 3, 1968. We have a son and 2 daughters and they blessed us with 8 grandchildren. I spent 41 years as an active firefighter in Greene, NY and retired from the fire dept. in June of 2011. I still drive ambulance for the Greene Emergency Squad and am still working as an electrical contractor.
