Robert's Story

My story ... I am sure that there is a lot of you do not even remember me. In high school I always kept a low profile. I felt out of place and isolated. For me l saw a student body full of cliques. I suppose I was just a little different...HA! but still a very cordial guy once you got to know me. To be sure I always kept my head high with pride and made a terrific friend to the less popular. I resisted the rigid routines of high school existence. It was at this time my interests of a career was beginning to develop.. After graduating out of high school I felt an terrific sense of relief and well being. I now have earned my freedom. I can now pursue my interests. My mind was set on higher learning. It was at this time I enrolled in college. I studied Architecture and Sociology. College offer me that exposure to develop and cultivate life interests. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Architecture from the University of New Mexico, Cum Laude in Architecture 1976. The following years I explored a change in career path to study City & Regional Planning which landed me at Harvard GSD in the summer of 1978. It was at Harvard I experienced some of best encounters in life which influenced me the most. There I was giving that spirit to achieve. It was at this time I decided that Architectural Design was clearly my calling. From there opportunities open. I felt good and at last on my way to do what I always wanted in life. ffered a terrific opportunity to prove myself in design. Any college graduate would kill for that kind of opportunity. Success proceeded with each new design and with it came an increase in responsibilities. I always wanted more. With an innate curiosity to learn and experience more I sought living and working in diverse urban and cultural settings. As more opportunities open I was recruited to work in Arizona, Connecticut, New York and Wisconsin as Lead Project Designer and Project Architect. Professionally I now had control of my world. On a personal level life's experiences taught me a lot. I am a long time member of the LGBT. I had a few relationships and none had stood the text of time. I now am fortunate to have a few selected friends left in my selected circle of friends of whom I still shared some of the best times. With age I've settled down to enjoy the simpler things in life. Humble to say the least. I also haven't lost that curiosity for learning. I feel my chosen path in life made me the successful and strong person I feel I am today. I have sold my home in New England some time ago and slowly relocated back to New Mexico to retired. I am now embarking in a new journey in life of rediscovering my heritage as a proud Native American. I am still engaging Architecture Design and this time on my own terms. I am also aiming in obtaining my Masters Degree. Imagine that. In the mean time check me out on the web.
