Robert's Story
Life
My wife Pat and I are coming up on our 33rd wedding anniversary this year. We have had a lot of years together & expect quite a few more. We have 3 sons but 2 of them are really men now- ages 26 and 23, in the Army National Guard. Our youngest is through his first year of college. Pat has been a Med Tech for 35 years now. I've been with FirstEnergy (CEI-Ohio Edison) for going on 30years, in the Engineering field (it's not too hard, pays well, and can be a lot of fun!). I've mostly done control system design, and have been fortunate to work on many environmental projects, like SCRs and emissions monitors. SCRs are large catalytic converters that reduce NOx by 90%. few years I've been the supervisor of a group of about 18 professional engineers.
I try to stay in shape by lifting weights and (sometimes) running. I've been rated a national chess expert, CSU chess team captain, and played in a couple World Open tournaments. ( It sounds elite, but they're open to anyone in the world).
As a family we've done a lot of canoeing in wilderness areas & camping in National Parks. My kids have a great understanding and appreciation for the natural world.
For the last sixyears I've been doing some lapidary work - cutting and mounting gemstones and other semi-precious stones.
