Robert's Story
I was born in Syracuse, New York, but California has been my home since early childhood. After high school I worked at a drop-in center and then went on into mental health. I worked at Valley Medical Center, Juvenile Probation before transferring to UCSB where I completed by BA. I worked at mental health in Santa Barbara, and Cottage Hospital before entering Sac State to complete my Masters in Social Work. Then on to Mendocino County where was the clinical manager of the Acute Services of the the County Mental Health Department. In 1986 my family and I returned to Santa Barbara where I worked at the Ventura County Behavioral Health Department in various capacities until 2000.

CA with my wife and two dogs. As a psychotherapist, I strive to combine my clinical skills with spirituality and compassion help people heal. These attributes are reflected in my writing as well. I am most happy when sharing an evening with friends or when I am out in natureâhiking, golfing, kayaking or camping. The past 14 years have brought many changes to my life. I remarried, moved to Ventura, became a member of a new extended family, opened my practice and converted to Judaism. My spiritual and personal journey has brought me knowledge, fulfillment, and a greater understanding of myself and those around me. I have a 28 year old daughter who lives and works in Santa Barbara and a 30 year old son who is a Rabbi in Phoenix, AZ.
Recently, I discovered my passion for writing poetry.
