Robert Sheffield:  

Left school in 72 joined the USAF in Feburary of 73. Went to basic training and then onto further training at Chanute AFB in Rantoul Illinois. Upon the third day there I bumped into Paul Little And Billy Davis one morning in the Dining facility. They were there learning to be aircraft electricians. I was studying Aircraft environmental systems. Departed there in June of that year and low and behold I was sent to Carswell here in Ft. Worth. Soon reconnected with the love of my life from High School, Cheri Lamb we soon married and by September of the next year were blessed with the birth of our first Stacey. I soon grew tired of working long hours and weekends on the flight line and requested retraining to Air Traffic Control. We were sent to beautiful Biloxi Mississippi for the next 6 months then as luck would have it I was sent right back to Carswell again. I was really upset as I expected to be sent elsewhere. However this worked out great as this was where home and family was located. I stayed here until Feburary of 81 and I was forced to spend a year isolated from friends and family at Incirlik Air Base Adana Turkey. It was a tough lonely year without family but I traveled extensively all over the country. Took hundreds of photographs and immersed myself into the language and culture of the country.
