Robert's Story
Life
After highschool I attended Eastern for a year. There were no courses on how to be a rich and famous singer/songwriter, so I quit after a year and moved back to Seattle. Worked restaurants and bars and generally tramped around for the next 10 years culminating in my one and only recording (they called it an EP - extended play vinyl back in those days). During the demo project I realized I enjoyed the business side much more than performing, so I went to work for a sister managing her business and ended up at the UW (thank you Ms. Glass) in 1988. Well 17 years later I'm now working in administrative management in a Division of the Department of Medicine. I still sing and write music and am still a bit of a tramp. I've done some music theatre (G&S) and was in the Seattle Symphony Chorale for two years :) I've been in two longterm committed relationships (yup-GAY) and now know better. Actually, life is really, really good - nice house and garden, cat, four wheel drive pickup (testesterone for days - but it doesn't set up too high - ya know), good friends and fun times. I'm blessed with a great family and good health. I miss my friends from high school and college days and have great memories of those time (those that have not been purged through excess :)...) and would love to hook up again. You know who you are. Anyway, enough of this - talk to me.
College
Okay - I was at EWU in 76-77. I lived in Morrison Hall for, ummm, about one quarter - didn't get kicked ...Expand for more
out, but it was close - moved into a duplex on Third with Duane, Tim, and Tom and maybe a dozen others who may as well have lived there. I performed in the Symphony Chorale, the jazz choir (went to Reno that year, I think we were called the Collegiants), took vocal lessons from Ralph Manzo (boy, did that man teach me alot about my voice - amazing), piano for a quarter from Jim Edmonds (brilliant man), and accompanied three vocalists, Maria Manzo (sweet), and another woman with a beautiful soprano and great brown hair - she sang a piece by Handel (Let the bright Seraphim), and a baritone. Anyway - I usually wore overalls, had long red/blond hair and a patchy beard, played guitar with Gretchen, Katherine, and Tony - there was someone else - hmmmm - in the Commons between classes, smoked pot behind the water tower by Morrison, had parties at the house on third and hung out at Badger Lake and surrounding woods. I definitely had a great time my year at Eastern. There are many people I remember from that year - some names, but mostly faces. Some standouts were Marianne and Gudu, Cathy from Wilbur, Kristine Craft (or Christine Kraft), Lisa Runner, Lorrie Turner, Constance Reed, Katherine from Tri Cities (she was like a lioness in the woods - remember?) - sorry if I missed someone. Anyway - drop me a line, I'd love to catch up. Rob PS - Tim Haynes, Tom Murphy, Duane Johnson - get in touch gosh darn it - miss you guys - oh yeah, Rod (of Rod and Randy in Medical Lake fame), you too.
