Robert's Story
Life
After a short and unglorious military stint, I spent the next 25 years trying to support my musician habit. To that end I have worked as a carpenter, cashier, cook, driver, landscaper, logger, file clerk, fruit picker, delivery person, shipping clerk, and a host of other menial labor or temporary jobs to pay rent and buy food with.
An industrial accident involving a table saw and my chord hand saw a quick dimishing of my drive to work every weekend while everyone else got loaded. It was at this point (about 1976) that I saw the need to change the direction of my efforts and work with my brain and lay off the brawn. I went back to school and got a degree in geek.
Now I write programs in VB and .Net for small and medium sized businessess and tend my yard and garden for exercise. I'm not rich but I am making my ends meet with less ...Expand for more
effort.
I am wealthy in the appropriate ways, I have a son and two daughters. They have blessed me with a granddaughter and a grandson. Their visits are a joy beyond understanding because they were not so much fun while they were growing up. If I had known that grandbabies were as much fun as they are, I would have had them first.
In addition to this bounty I have been given the joy of many extremely creative friends who share and stimulate new musical and poetic expressions. Life is more than activities and living is more about being able to achieve a state of contentment than abundance.
I have watched for old friends and hoped some would respond to emails, sadly this has proved not to be the case. If you knew me then please drop me a note, my memory is not what it once was so I may not recognise you but I will respond in return.
