Older history: Cortland Jr-Sr High School; Hamilton College BA (math & chem) '65; U. Rochester MD 70; Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medicine residencies in medicine and health services research '70-'75 (except while in the US Navy '72-'74). From 1977 to 2004 I served as principal investigator for grants and contracts from the US Army, National Institute of Mental Health, National Institute for Drug Abuse, and the US Centers for Disease Control & Prevention. Before my career in HIV/AIDS I also served as the Associate Medical Director, Pacific Medical Center '81-86 after it was formed from the US Public Health Service Hospital.".
