Roberta's Story
Just a brief outline for now...Married in 1966 (Stauffer), 2 children (girl and boy). Moved to San Diego area in 1973 and still live here. Divorced around 1980. Remarried in 1984 (Burton). Have 4 grandchildren - 2 boys & 2 girls.
Ron passed away - massive heart attack - 12/31/05. He was only 49. I was devastated. We had 2 dogs and a cat. They have all died since then also. I am an animal nut and each of their passings still makes me cry if I dwell on it. I cannot bear to get another because of the heartbreak, but I want to eventually rescue one or two who need a home. It is still overwhelming to think about that at this point.
Have been semi-retired but want to go back to work part time eventually - sooner rather than later.
That's about it! Hate getting older, but still act like a silly teenager. Not exactly appropriate, but it can't be helped. I suppose that is why I am the favorite grandmother (or Memaw, as Jennifer's kids in Arizona call me). Still love the beach and try to boogie board with the little ones, play in the pool and even go on the slip and slide (I always slide the farthest).
Love any kind of water ...Expand for more
and would live in the pool if possible. Love to work in the yard, but it can be overwhelming sometimes. Have a very large, steep hill in backyard and all my friends are sure they will find me broken at the bottom one of these days.
My friends know I will drop everything if anyone wants to come over and play games or swim. Especilly since Ron died I have come to appreciate that spending time with loved ones is so much more important than vacuuming or whatever.
I currently have a boyfriend - it's been a littlle over a year now. It is still hard to say that - it sounds wierd to me. Michael is only 52 (I'm 65 now-yuck!) so that helps keep me young also. We laugh a lot and he thinks I'm beautiful so he's just about perfect (if he ever gets glasses he may change his mind - ha ha).
Gotta go - spent too much time on this already. Probably no one will even read it anyway. I think about my classmates often. I guess I missed the most recent reunion. I was having computer issues and could not get on line for a while. Add to that the fact I am not very good at keeping up on email. I check it only occasionally.
Bye for now.
