Robin's Story
I actually got married before graduation, and 17 months later I had my first son. It turned out to be a trial marrage, and we were divorced about 5 years later. I wasn't single very long, and I met my second husband. I'm happy to say that we have been "mostly" happily married for 35 years. We had 2 more boys, for a total of 3 boys. That took up a lot of our lives, but now we are very happy to have 3 grandsons and 5 granddaughters. My husband Dave has always been self employed, so my need for a steady pay-check lead me to work for the last 24 years for the Hillsboro School District in Oregon. I worked my way up to be the Director of Transportation for the last 14 years, but between the sizable budget cuts, and new leadership, I am now unemployed. hought that letting me go 8 months prior to early retirement age was best for them. I'm still trying to adjust. For the time being, I am helping my husband Dave with his business. We are now full time RVers, and work has camp hosts. Last summer, we started working as volunteers for the State of Oregon Parks, and ended up working 4 months at 3 different state parks. We managed to secure jobs at an RV Resort in Mesa, AZ for the winter, and found that it is a wonderful place to spend time. Now we are back on the Oregon Coast again working as volunteer camp hosts and are meeting many wonderful people. We are scheduled at various locations for one or two months at a time, so there is never a dull moment.
