Robin's Story
After high school, I worked while going to American River College. I married Dalton Sowers and we moved to San Jose. After a brief year and a half we divorced and I moved back to Sac and worked at UCDMC. In 1989 I married Steve Hutcheson (Best decision EVER!!! He played football and wrestled for Grant - class of 72. I stepmomed his two boys full time. I also went thru the correctional academy and became a guard at Folsom Prison for 9 years. While responding to a disturbance, I incurred a blunt force head trauma and a torn rotator cuff which did not fully repair after surgery. I was given a disability retirement. Right after this, Steve's company relocated us to Salt Lake City, UT. (Really great skiing!!!) I was also diagnosed with a non-cancerous brain tumor and most of it was able to be removed. I'll worry about the rest of it...Expand for more
as it becomes bothersome again... Anyhow, eight years later, we were again relocated, this time to the Tampa Bay, FL, area where we currently live. Steve and I love it here. In fact, we love Florida so much that we are retiring on the Atlantic coast. I know, what a cliche! I'm all about the sun hats and flip flops! Because both our families live in the Sac area, I try to visit about 3-4 times a year. Ivalyn (Pike) has been very instrumental organizing get-togethers where I've had a chance to see classmates and renew friendships. What's really nice is I've found that at our age, those of us who didn't really have so much in common in high school have similar things to talk about now! Steve and I are currently in the process of purchasing a condo near Cocoa Beach. Maybe sometime we'll have some Club 71 visitors? Stay in touch!
