Robin's Story
School
High school was a great time - loved it but certainly would not want to go back in time.
I was sorry to have missed our 10 year reunion because I really would have loved to see so many old friends.
High School for me involved swim team, working, and going out with friends and boy friends. As I (we) get older it seems that senior year is the one that stands out the most, so that is the easiest one to remember and reflect on. I really loved my senior year (who doesn't - one foot out the door) and had great friends to share it with.
Senior year I worked at Sbarro in the mall, was Co-President of Save What's Left, Treasurer of FBLA, and was in my 4th year of swim team. My friends were Marie
College
I spent some time in many different colleges:
After graduating from high school I went to Sante Fe Community College in Gainesville, FL. I spent 2 years here - where I had to experience terror with the murders that happened and parents threatening to pull me home with only one semester left to finish. Once I finsihed up at SFCC I moved back home and went to Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. Just before (1 semester before) finishing my undergraduate degree in Early Childhood my parents decided to move to Georgia. I went with them which put me on hold for my degree. I worked for one year while waiting to get in state tuition. Once I had lived in GA for a year I applied...Expand for more
to Georgia State University and finished my undergraduate degree in Middle School Education in 1996. I recently went back to school again for my Masters in Interrelated Special Education and just completed (March 2005)that program in 18 months (15 classes) while working full time.
Workplace
After moving to Georgia in 1993 I finised my undergraduate degree at Georgia State University and began teaching 8th grade Earth Science at Sweetwater Middle School in 1996. I stayed at the middle school level for 6 years until a friend of mine convinced me to move on up to high school and change to special education. I took a leap of faith and love it. I just finished (March 2005) my Masters in Interrelated Special Education at Brenau University, which almost killed me - 15 classes in 18 months. I am thrilled to have a summer of relaxation fun. My sister (Joy) is about to hve her first child in May 2005 and I am looking forward to spending lots of time with my new niece or nephew.
My current job at the high school involves me working with regular education teachers in their classrooms. The class is composed of regular education students and special education students all working toward a technical high school diploma. I help teach and work with the regular education teacher to plan lessons and make sure that any interventions needed by the special education students are followed. I really love it.
