Robin Geesey:  

After high school I went to college at Western Michigan University and studied geology, biology and education. I graduated in 1982 and married my husband, who had been a WMU grad student from Missouri, in the Spring of 1983. He was working in Texas for Exxon so this is where we ended up. I began as a 6th grade science teacher in Andrews, Tx for a year before we moved to Midland and then I taught at Midland High for 14 years teaching biology, geology and environmental science. For the last 12 years I have been teaching 5th grade science in the districts gifted and talented program. My husband Jim, has become an International Geologist and has for the last 14 years been consulting for an oil company in Siberia, Russia. He flies back and forth for 4 to 6 week shifts at a time. Teaching has been a great career, but I am starting to get the kids of some of my former high school students and it is making me feel old. As a teacher I have had some great experiences including getting to be a VIP at a spaceshuttle launch and spending 19 days at sea on a research ship in the Gulf of Mexico. Touching the lives of thousands of students has been a great experience. As times and the educational system continues to pass and change I find my enthusiasm shifting and changing too.
