Robin's Story

Life ROBIN NITZ SAMIOF - I have two wonderful boys (Jonathan-18, and Craig - 15). Jonathan is a freshman in college while Craig is a freshman in high school. I work for an educational institution and love what I do. A few years ago I returned from living briefly in Sunrise, Florida where I worked for a large entertainment company. Before that, I worked as the Executive Assistant to the Superintendent of Schools and Board of Education with the Brunswick Central School District. And before that, I created, owned and operated my own small cafe~deli called "Cafe Deli~icious" for almost three years before selling it to spend more time with my boys. I love to garden, run, ski, swim, entertain (and do so frequently) and stay active with friends, family and my "significant other", Michael. School High school was wonderful for me. As the only Mormon in a Catholic school, I was apprehensive at first, but never had I felt so welcomed as I did at CCHS. I had friends like Timmy Liberty, Debbie Premo and Stephanie Arnold when I entered CCHS freshman year. I then met more wonderful friends like Erin O'Brien, Aileen O'Brien, Sue Petrie, Lisa Hayden - - just to name a few. My sophmore through Senior years were my most memorable and cherished, where I grew academically, socially, and personally. I am grateful for my experiences at CCHS. College Brigham Young University - Laie, Hawaii College was "okay" for me. My educational and personal experiences fell far short of my expectations. Alth...Expand for more
ough my grades were great, most of my professors were less than "passionate" about their profession, and therefore, it was hard to get "excited" about school and my chosen major. Today, fortunately, I am very happy. I have two amazing sons (Jonathan - 18 and Craig - 15). I live in beautiful upstate New York and can't imagine myself anywhere else! I work as an Executive Assistant and love what I do. I enjoy traveling, reading, gardening, skiing, running, decorating and entertaining. Life is good. I hope yours is too! Workplace I created, owned and ran a small cafe on River Street in downtown Troy called Cafe Deli-icious for almost three years. From that experience and success, I gained a huge boost to my self-confidence and sense of self-worth. While building a great business reputation, I was awarded a Beautification Award in 2002 by the Rensselaer County Chamber of Commerce for all the work we did on the cafe to fix it up, paint, add signage and give it a little landscaping AND on January 2, 2003, we received a wonderful review by the Albany Times Union. In September, 2003, I decided to sell the now very busy cafe and spend some quality time with the precious little time I have left with my two growing boys, and put the restaurant/catering business on hold until later when the boys no longer need me. We lost our home to a fire in 2004, and since then have started over in many ways. Now, in 2008, we are all building futures of hope and happiness as we all try new ventures.
