Life
I have been employed as a piano tuner/technician for Jordan Kitts Music since 1980.I learned piano tuning at Shenandoah Conservatory while studying trombone performance. I am a Registered Piano Technician in the Piano Technicians Guild and member of the Washington DC Chapter.I work for Jordan Kitts'Music as Concert and Artist Technician.I maintain 10 Steinway concert grands that are used all over town.I have tuned at the White House,Kennedy Center and worked for famous artists like George Winston,Diana Krall,Lang Lang Peter Serkin, etc. In October of 1998 I finally got married and bought a house. My wife is a pianist and we enjoy makeing beutiful music together. In Dec. of 2004 I was appointed to the position of Chief Concert Technician at the Kennedy Center.Unfortunately my company's association ...Expand for more
with Steinway has ended after 30 years.Steinway wanted an exclusive Steinway only dealer and we didn't.So starting 11/1/10 the Kennedy Center had to lease their pianos from the new dealer who of course has his own tech.I was assisted in my work at the Kennedy Center by Shenandoah grad,Dale Smith, who continues to work with me now at Strathmore Music Center and other venues. I am enjoying being the DC areas Concert and Artist Tuner for Yamaha and Bosendorfer. My association with Yamaha has already introduced me to a new group of performers, like Stevie Wonder,David Foster and Chick Corea.
I also play trombone in the McLean Symphony where Kathryn Reetz Riddle, another Shenandoah grad, plays flute. Also in the Mclean symphony I enjoy playing with Woodbridge High School grad. Michael Ream who plays Viola.
