Robin's Story
I am a woman who loves education. Since high school I graduated from High School and after a year of college and Jamestown Community College, I decided to go to and graduate from
Bryant and Stratton Business institute in a Secretarial/ Receptionist program . I really did not think I was very good at admininistrative work but once I strarted there my parents wouldn't let me quit.
I worked at sundry and various jobs, never knowing what I wanted to do and really never quite satisfied. I went back to college several years ago with a Psychology/ Religion Major and Southern California College / now/ Vanguard University, for 3 years, however never graduated. I went on three short term Missionary trips, to Holland, Nicaraugua and Guataemala. I loved being on the field even if only for a short time. I still had many jobs, everything from a weight counselor /Jenny Craig to Office to Retail. Because I found most of these jobs rather unsatisfying I once again tried to complet e my education. I am now going to school and working on my degree-MA and PSY. D. We will see how far I get. I always wanted a family as well.
I enjoy cooking, and especially enjoy making and decorating gourmet cakes. I love to plan parties and coordinate big events. I was involved in a Co. called Thee Wedding Library and learned how to plan weddings and help couples plan all aspects of wedding and reception ne...Expand for more
eds. I now know that true joy and hope come from God. I have been a Christian believer for thirty-six years. So it is no longer about titles, or impressing others, it is about trust in a God who knows what my heart wants. It is about listening to the still small voice that directs my life and letting Him be the Center "on the throne" of my life. It is about knowing that I know that I am loved so I don't have to create my own self concept. It is about stepping "out of the box" and having a deep spiritual and emotional connection. It is about God taking the talents he has gifted me with and stretching those things I am not so gifted with, and using them for His glory as I reach out to that which I was truly created for. I would like to be able to work with curriculum, and reverse the "No child left Behind" program and see change wrought to all kinds of testing, core literature, reading (I worked as a back-to back tutor teaching reading to children in elementary school). With a PSY. D. I can do just that. It is my desire to see our children better educated and see that Johnnie can read on grade level by the time he gets to high school and college and have children really know and understand the background of history as well.
So yes, even at 57 yrs of age, I want to "go for it". I want to make a difference. Retirement--No way! Haven't you heard, 60 is the new 40. Yeah!
