Robin's Story

Life Updated: My goodness, i just read my old profile and realized that much has change since then so it is time to update. I still live in Texas of course, 35 years this past August. What can I say, Texas is one of those places that you either love or hate and I fell in love with it and it's diversity from the day I landed here. My marital status has change since my last writing. Unfortunatly, it did not work out, although we are very good friends. I am still a Grandmother, but now 4 times. My son, Christopher, whom some of you knew as an infant, is now 32 and married to a beautiful young woman, Kayla...she has been a wonderful step mom to the two oldest of Chris's children, two sons( Isaiah and Jeremiah)...and an ideal mother to their daughter, (Ryleah). They are the great loves of my life. I bought the home of my dreams last year, ( nov. 2007), and was it was not too effected by the wrath of Ike. I can not say the same about myself. Ike has forever changed my life and my outlook on it. I had began a non profit organization last year and since the storm have put all of my efforts into trying in anyway possible to help those that were left with little or no hope after Ike took from them their sense of security, self, and hope or the future. I have enjoyed looking through the profiles of those of you who have filled them out and would encourage more of you to do so. I have found almost everyone that I had hoped to find when I signed on with classmates.com, except David Waters. He was a DE teacher up "on the hill" after it became part of NEHI. I would love to know more about all of you. I always wanted to be a performer when I grew up. My family and friends thought that was a creative idea. As it turns out, they were right. I love to take a walk with my dog, and for the maximum relaxation ...i run to the mountains If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have purpose, creative outlet, and like minded employer to be able to deal with the day-to-day. my mother and my aunt Betty are truly my hero's. The things these women have done in their lives to care for their families and those in need...blow my mind. They had none of the opprotunities that most of us have had and yet they have the love and respect of all they touch. they amaze me. oprah too. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is sharon and tricha and dave waters, because the girls were my best friends and Dave Waters inspired me in ways that still affect me today.. i confess...I am a reality junkie...can't get enough of it....that and comedy....love good sitcoms ...and documentry If I could improve my home, I'd remodel to create a downstairs bedroom and add on a gazebo and pool house. My dream home would be in colorado. oh geez....what I have learned from my children is that I am so, so, imperfect,...but i do have the capacity to love in ways that are capable to hurt badly Which teacher would you love to see again? Dave Waters Why? He always listened and he gave me great advise and also tried to teach me to become accountable form my own actions.. I miss him so much. I would love to see Mr. Nesbit....but I would have him arrested. If I won $100 million, I'd give it to m...Expand for more
y family first so that they would have their needs met and wants too. of it to then i would make sure that my grandchildren could get all of the education they ever wanted to get, then spend the rest on where it could help those who need help the most, focus would be on children and elders. and make sure that the money would make a positive difference for longer then a day...that my family could pay forward. My current age is 51. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be old. I was so completely wrong. not working hard at the moment. getting ready to go back to school and get a degree in social work. I would like to next work with at risk teens. What happened to your first crush? All of you know it was John Harrell, who I married when I was 18. He sadly passed away after a very long tough battle with many issues last month, May 2011 at 51 years old. UPDATE SEPT 2011: I AM IN COLLEGE NOW AND MY PLAN IS TO GRADUATE AND MOVE BACK TO PINELLAS COUNTY SO THAT I CAN BE CLOSER TO MY MOM. IT WILL BE SOONER IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO MY STEPDAD, BUT RIGHT NOW THAT IS THE PLAN....DEGREE IN PSYCHOLOGY, WORKING IN FIELD WITH AT RISK YOUTH AND SELL MY HOUSE AND HANG OUT WITH MY MOMMA. LIFE UPDATED: And man has it changed. Last July, I found myself having sold my house, saying goodbye to 37 years of my life in Texas , which painfully included my son, Chris Peak and my three grandchildren that I have never been more then 15 mins from their whole lives. I had to relocate to come back to Pinellas County to care for my parents. At the time, it seemed the home sickness would never leave. Since then, I have been given many indications that I made the right decision. My home is only 1 1/2 blocks from my parents. I change my major and am now very interested in working with dementicia patients, which is what I have found as a livelyhood here, and also find I love working with them. I am interested in going into research in this area, as well as Austisim. I met the man of my dreams and to be married on 12/13/13. He has been diagnoised with stage 3 lymphomia, grade two and we just finished his 2nd chemo treatment. His first was rough, but because he broke out in shingles 4 day after treatment...this time has been easier for him, and our support group is amazing. So here I am in Florida, where I never imagined I would ever, ever return. Two of friends from back in the day have actually come to see me, one all the way from Chicago. Seems as much as things change, sadly more so it has stayed the same for many that we knew in the day, thus causing disconnect. I am happy, although missing my son and my grandbabies very much. But my babies call me all the time and tell me "gramma when are you coming back to your house?" and that make me both cry and proud that I have the relationship I have with them. I have become a member of the Faternal Order of Eagles here, which is a non profit organization dedicated to many of the causes that have touched my heart over my lifetime. I am the chaplin there. Funny how things work out, huh? Hoping anyone reading is finding their lives happy, filled with the love of all surrounding them and most of all joy in the adventures of life.
