Robin's Story

Education Went to three high schools in 79. I then did two years at Delta College taking Natural Resources Management classes to get my degree. I have military schools that I attended. I also have 18 s.e.u. in law enforcement. The latest was at the plumbers union apprenticeship. I finished in 04. Military Join the Navy in 82. Did boot in Orlando. I was then sent to Philadelphia, Pa for "A" school. Top three in class so I picked to go to San Diego. I was temp. stationed at the fire fighting school and then on to the Acadia (AD-42). I also did the end of my enlistment at SIMA. I obtained a 4951 code for silverbrazing. I did reserve time in Norfolk SIMA. It was a great experience and I saw a lot with the deployment to the Far East. Life It's been quite a ride so far. I was the second born but became the eldest after my sister died 7 days after birth. Born in Stockton, two siblings came after, in 68 parents divorced and in 72 we moved to Porterville until 79. In 79 I lived in Porterville, Grover City (Beach), and Stockton. Left Stockton in 82 and moved to Atascadero and then the Navy time. After Navy went to North Carolina with my first husband. I got my dream job as a Park Ranger and I loved it. Spouse died and I had to leave my job, for safety of my life reasons, in 89. I was pretty messed up at that time with the two deaths (murders) in my life. It was a crushing time mentally. Met my current husband in Charleston, South Carolina. We married in 90. Moved to California in 1997 so the kids could get to know their grandparents on my side. They have family on the east coast as well. We have four children. The oldest are twin boys 17, daughter 14, and a younger son 13. My husband was activated 9 years ago for the Air Force, so he is not at home. We are lucky he is currently at Travis AFB for a while, so we get to see him sometimes. I was working until he got deployed but have been at home since. I run my own business and I run the home. I try to keep everything going but it is hard at times. My release is my garden and the simple things I did as a kid like canning, cooking, etc. This year 07/08 has been a tough one since Aug/ Sept 07. My nephew was the young man who went missing in Texas/ New Mexico at the end of Aug. He was almost 20 and we found out he ...Expand for more
had just gotten engaged. He did two years in Bagdad and was shipping out to Afghanistan. He is missed. They found him dead. They say it was suicide but we cannot agree with that. We feel it was a murder that is being covered. In Jan. we had a garage fire. The twins had been hanging out and a fire occured. Luckily the twins lived. Then, the contractor almost killed all of us in late Feb/ early March 08. He covered our roof with plastic and forgot to cut out the vents. My heater turn into a monster. It was very frightening and I was pretty freaked and I usually am calm about such things. UPDATE:I would like to say that we have been very blessed since the fire. Though it has been stressful. The twins will graduate in 2009 and my youngest will also graduate from his 8th grade class. We are happy to be celebrating this holiday season of 2008. Travel I love to travel. Maybe its the Potuguese side. I have been to many states and many countries ( my favorite was Japan). The latest was a girls only cruise to the Bahamas with some fantastic friends from South Carolina. We had a blast! I have posted a few of our pictures. I even had a picture taken on the ship that turned out pretty good. We didn't get to do all that we wanted but we did see the islands as much as we could in the time we had. The next big trip is a cruise to Alaska with a side trip to Denali. It is planned the summer after my youngest son graduates high school. I am excited about this one! Update It is now 08/10, We have moved to Oklahoma. One twin has stayed in Calif getting ready to go into the military and the other is with us. He is a music education major. They are now 19, my daughter is 16 and the youngest is now 15. Spouse is now off orders, finally. He now has a civilian dept. of defense position. That is the reason for our move. I am trying to go back into my career field and start again. I have applied for a position at the Oklahoma bombing memorial. It has been a very hard move so far, but it can only get better. We have been blessed and everyone is healthy and doing well. The children are adapting to their new schools. My daughter is a bari sax player in the MHS marching band. Son is a baseball player in conditioning. I am so proud of my children. It has been hard but very rewarding.
