Robyn's Story

I'm substitute teaching while earning English Language Learners certification. I love teaching ELLs. My youngest son got married this summer, during the Nebraska heat wave, in an outdoor wedding. Trevis and Jacey, and my oldest son, Griffin, all want to move to Colorado. If they do, I'll likely follow. Then Kathy Lytle Eberle and I can get back to hanging out on weekends again (minus the yellow VW bug). Maybe we will still spend a week in spring in Santa Fe together, only this time worrying about our kids. (All three in college. ) I still love these things and am grateful to the following people. Pottery: Mr. Desnica; gymnastics: Miss Drugan; writing: Mr. Towner (Dunstan), Mrs. Shaw and Mr. Moninger; thinking and history, Mr. Ervin; and music: Mr. Weiker. And while looking through the year book I realize, as I embark on a teaching career, I am probably older than any of those listed were when they were at BCHS! Update June 2008 I'm moving back to Lincoln, Nebraska. Still have my home there and the boys are going to move out. They are supposed to clean it BEFORE I arrive! I'm looking forward to having the boys over for dinner once a week. Maybe more during their finals and mid-terms. ha Got my NM teaching license and now have to jump through a few hoops to get one for Nebraska. I'll be so happy to be home with my garden and back in my community of 20 years. Jim Zinglemann and his wife, Jane, have been such dear friends here in Albuquerque for the past 3 years. I will miss them. Jim even held my hand during an MRI - brave and kind friend! I'll finish my Master's degree at UNL. 2007-08 schoo...Expand for more
l year Life I'm still working on my masters degree at the University of New Mexico and am now teaching 4th grade, which agrees with me very well. Not quite the same gang influence as the Jr. High scene (see below). I'm still strong and mortified some 8th grade boys last year by beating them in arm wrestling (one month after heart surgery no less!) I'm still adventureous and would go nearly anywhere if someone would just hand a ticket to me. Yes, even North Dakota, etc. I love to study history and museums, even the smallest in a county interest me. I still love art, and thanks to Mr. Desnicka, I still throw pottery on a 300 pound kick wheel whenever the weather and time permits. (No heater in the studio) Kathy Lytle is still one of my best friends. Jim Zingleman lives in ABQ too and his wife, Jane, has become a dear friend and so we three hang out together often. One son is in Iraq (praying often) and one is still in Lincoln, Nebraska which has really become home for us. I miss Lincoln alot. I've become quite the gardener and love to make my son's lives miserable helping me in my labor intensive yard. (Their opinion - ha) We still have our home in Lincoln and so I love to go home for the holidays. I guess I continue to have a somewhat backwards life. ha A Couple of years ago........ I'm now living in Albuquerque. Thanks to all who were praying during the breast cancer thing. I'm fine and now back in college getting a masters. I'm teaching 7 & 8 grade social studies, dealing with gang members and having a jolly time. Do you think that Tom Towner wished this on me long ago? ha! Payback and all.
