Robyn's Story

With Love and Laughter. Contact me on facebook, I'm on all the time!! Blast music really loud! Take a bubble bath. There is absolutely no way I am answering that question! If I'm going to work somewhere, I need to have cell phone, something to read while waiting, and tape recorder to be able to deal with the day-to-day. Absolutely, many - Golda Meir, Oprah Winfrey, Martin Luther King, Jr., Elie Wiesel, Simon Weisenthal, Maya Angelou and my Grandmother, Celia Honingberg. I grew up in Rego Park, NY until I was 15 and then moved to Great Neck, L.I. where I lived on and off throughout and in between 2 colleges, working in Albany for a Legislator, and then going to Brooklyn Law School. I also shared a small apt in Manhattan. Then back to Great Neck, when first married for 3 years. Then we moved to a house in Jericho, L.I. and I lived there for 17 years. Then for a very short time, we lived in a condo in Syosset called Hidden Ridge, then we were supposed to move into another house in Jericho, which suddenly fell through one week before closing and wound up moving into an apartment complex called Westwood Village, on the border of Westbury and Jericho, so our kids could con't in Jericho Schools, which also paid for them to go to Boces Cultural Arts Center, my son one-half a day and my daughter a full day. We wound up staying in Westwood for a few years. Now I live alone in another apartment in Westwood, having recently been separated from my husband of almost 23 years. Both my children, Carole and Ricky are in college in NYC, my daughter attends NYU,Tisch,Cap21 and my son attends Columbia University. The one person from my past who I'd most like to see again is not is, are: Johnny Quinn, Bruce Bernstein, Alyssa Mallow, Tommy Toscano, Joanne Fassler, and Lory Gruber, because I miss and love them all and wish we were still in contact. The other people from my early past I've been fortunate enough to reconnect with them: Nancy Aaronson, Robin Waxer, Sandra Roth, Morris Tevah, Mark Alexander, Beth Welt and many others. Keeping children safe and well treated in the Entertainment Industry. Any child anywhere in the world who is hungry or ill and w/o proper medical care. My biggest surprise was losing my Mother when she was only 51 years old and I had just turned 27. She was my Mother and my Best Friend! The next biggest surprise is having children in show business, never in my wildest imagination did I think that would happen. If I could improve my home, I'd remodel everything and add on a 2 more bedrooms, as I live in an apt. that is like a little Gingerbread house. My dream home would be the one I already lived in .. What I've learned from my kids is forgiveness above all else and in the end only love matters. I have learned that I am not perfect, that we all try hard but make mistakes anyway; and that the following quote is true "You are only as happy as your saddest child." Lastly, I learned that in order to love your children, as much as they deserve, you must start with loving yourself. Children learn what they live; this is teaching them to love themselves, as well as, creating self-esteem. Mrs. Boris from 2d grade, b/c I remember her vividly and decided to be a lawyer in 2d grade. Mostly, from CW Post Professor Stanley Jarolem, he was my mentor, my teacher, and my friend; and Dr. Stan Klein, who was not only my professor, but most certainly my friend and confidante. If I won $100 million, I'd give my father a large portion of it, to do whatever he pleases and not continue working so hard, then spend the rest on my children, myself and the various charities that I have been donating to for years such as: Make A Wish Foundation, Cancer Care, St. Jude's Hospital, The American Red Cross, Arthritis Foundation, Susan B. Komen for the Cure (Breast Cancer), CancerCare, Arthritis Foundation, Muscular Dystrophy/Jerry's Kids, and CARE (in relation to helping end forever, the victimization of women across the globe, particularly in...Expand for more
areas that still circumsize their young girls). I lived in a dorm in Syracuse University named Dell Plain for two years and dorm life was exactly what it still is today. I currently have one child at Columbia University and one at NYU, Tisch School! Nothing much has changed. I don't know where, I don't know what and I don't know with whom, but it would be great to be in love and to have my children near. My current age is 48. When I was 12, I thought that people my age now would be really old, but could still be cool. I was so completely sort of wrong and yet, sort of right.. Since most of my career wound up being a consultant in Entertainment Law and schlepping my kids around the city and the entire country, both in Broadway Shows, Commercials, Voice-Overs, Auditions, etc. and then traveling in either a National Tour or in Equity Shows in Chicago, California, Boston, etc. Since all of that came as a complete surprise to me and now they are old enough to go or do whatever they choose, I now have started a business called "BizKidz" acting as a consultant to parents & children in the entertainment industry. My first crush was named Mark Alexander, sorry Meryl, with whom I am still very much in contact with. He lives in North Carolina with his wife Meryl and two children. He has been and continues to be a very dear friend of mine. Having known him, I think, for all of my life, makes it that much more special. My best friends would tell you I'm out of my mind, but people who don't know me very well would probably describe me as outgoing, caring, friendly and a little professorial. It wasn't really weird, just a great deal of fun. As a teenager I worked in a store in Great Neck called Pants Etc. on and off for a couple of years and I was very close to the owner. I share my home with my children, when they come to visit, but mostly alone, which I found strange in the beginning since it was so new. Now I am used to it... and have learned to enjoy it. Nope, no trophies, but lots of Diplomas and College Awards. Be a better, more patient parent, who wasn't still in mourning during my children's early years. In 10 years, I hope to be well, fulfilled and very happy. I'm going to get there by positive thinking, imagery and prayer.. My oldest friends were Nancy Aaronson, Robin Waxer, Barbara Pressar, Susan Ross and Sandra Roth. We were the "6-1" clique, how obnoxious we must have been. I've recently been in touch with Robin and Nancy through Classmates and its been great reconnecting. The oldest friend that I would really like to talk about, is the one with whom I am very much in touch with Amy Levenstein (nee Gottessman). We met while we both went to Halsey Jr. High School at a get together to meet people at a bowling party. After we lost contact during high school yrs we met again when we were engaged. Our fiances also knew each other for years, which was really strange. We immediately became close again, eventually both families moving to Jericho, having children close in age and sharing in the very best and the very worst of times. A childhood memory that I'll never forget was going with my "clique" I don't remember exactly who was there, to what used to be the World's Fair, then called Flushing Meadow Park and walking on a log and falling into a lake. This was a problem b/c none of us were allowed to go there by ourselves. So we walked across the highway using the overpass and went into Fairway Apts, went downstairs to the basement to the laundry room. I took off most of my clothing, wrapped myself in something I don't remember and waited for my clothes to dry in the dryer. I remember trying so hard to keep this story from my parents, but as it was so funny also, I wound up telling my Mother in a few days. That is basically my story with a lot of editing. I know that I wrote a great deal. I didn't intend on doing that, but every time I write, that tends to happen. With my children in college, my future is open . . .
