Rod's Story
Studied at University of Illinois, University of Oklahoma, Eastern Illinois University, Northern Illinois University, Elgin Community College and Judson College thru my 29th birthday. Became a commercial banker and eventually owned part of a community bank in my early forties. Sold the bank and retired at 57. Married an incredible woman whom I knew since I was 16. She made all the difference. Have a wonderful son and daughter who have successful careeers of their own. Stpehanie is a teacher and Ryan & his buddy have a successful business in Clearwater Florida. Karolynn and I have traveled and enjoy Arizona & Florida. I remember so many classmates and admired them all. We had, for the most part, very nice and intelligent people in our class. obably a bit quiet and didn't participate much in High School. Had some goals in mind and for the most part I was able to achieve them. Very sad to see how many of our class are gone. I knew quite a few and considered many of them friends. For those who still dwell on the past, a little advice: When I was 20 I was run over by a car and tossed through an intersection in Schaumburg. When I was 26 I was shot and a friend of mine was killed. That same year I totalled my new car and just missed being impaled on rebar in concrete. If you get up and keep going the distance between giving up and having the life you want is measured in every incredible second you're beyond the hurdles. Thanks for making my time at Conant very special. You know who you are and I love you all.
