Rod's Story

Life I'm semi-retired and living in Modesto. After high school, I graduated from MJC and then Indiana University where I majored in opera. I sang professionally for a while and then taught college for a number of years. I then went in the stage lighting business. I sold that and then bought and sold government surplus. Lots of different stuff to pay the bills and lots of stuff just for the heck of it. dn't suit me so I returned to the mainland and became the technical director for Golden Gate Opera in Marin. A heart attack pretty much ended my participation in the active production of opera, but I still own the shop building and the tools. I use it for my own amusement these days, that and to teach my oldest grandson how to use the stuff in there. I have a widowed son who lives just three minutes away from us and is the proud father of his own two boys, ages 5 and 8 -- that is, my grandsons, and I have a great good time with them.
