Rod's Story

Still Mustang nuts!! And, yes, I still have the 67 Shelby I bought in 1971. Multiple show winner, calendar car, and a featured car in the April '09 issue of Muscle Car Review. And, I was the one did it all the restoration work on it. I sold that 66 Mustang I used to hammer on. Track events - both drag and high speed with that one. I've got a 67' GTA Mustang that I've put a 428 into. I spend the summer going to shows in the area and some a state or two away. I've even bumped into Mr Housinger (our auto shop teacher) at a local show. Yes, he still drives a Chevy! I live in Lansing. Kids are grown, married and out of the house. My oldest is a school teacher, and the youngest one has a Masters degree in Geology. Both daughters, lucky me. I have two grand kids. Both likely to attend Purdue U....in about 1 years or so. The grand daughter is especially athletic. Plays club volleyball, and softball. She now attends Purdue. Yes THAT ONE in Lafayette! I've been to Disney World 5 times, Cancun once, New Orleans once. Had to do Mt Rushmore and Devil's Tower. Washington DC twice. DON'T MISS IT!! Still haven't been to Vegas, or anywhere in California. ) I've have 5 major jobs in my life so far. Started at the Chrysler pre-delivery center in Chicago, On to the Pullman Standard passenger car plant off of 111th in Chicago. I ran the Midas Muffler shop in Cal City 10 years ('80 to '90). Done 10 more at the old Sinclair refining headquarters in Harvey at a place called Autoresearch. And finally put in 18 years at Praxair in Gary,I holding down a chair, staring into 6 computer screens for 12 hours at a time while running a plant worth more that 50 m...Expand for more
illion dollars.(used to be Union Carbide) (Thanks to T.P.) I retired in 2018. Wife and I will likely winter in Florida but not just yet. We both have brothers who live down there. Prefer to have a beer on Friday or Saturday night. Still like hearing from old acquaintances. If you want to contact me try this: 3 W's, rtremb "at" Juno dot com. Figure that out Einstien because Classmates might delete me if I have to type it out all together. Oh, and I don't have a gold membership here so unless you figure out the above code, don't expect a good reply. And, get this, I earned an Associates Degree from South Suburban College in 2001...with Honors no less! Calumet City: Well, the neighborhood has changed. Sears is gone, River Oaks Ford is too, This past May (2018) they tore down the River Oaks theater. (Gee, didn't we all go to the movies there?) No stores open in the Wentworth Woods shopping center anymore as it too was torn down. Even the Midas shop on 159th St. I used to run is closed and turned into the maintenance center for distric 157 schools. Remember Schrum School? They tore it down and put up a new one....even closer to the stinky lil' Cal River. Grandma Trem had 11 kids - now there are no Trembczynskis living in Calumet City. Most are in Holy Cross Cemetery. Don't bother visiting Calumet City. You'll want to puke. Alot Remember TF South high school, yeah! "the Rebels"? Well in late 2020 the school board decided to drop the "Rebels" name. Doesn't matter, back in the 80's all those Rebel flags disappeared everywhere inside the school. (My kids went there) Updated 07/11/2023
