More about Rod:"I grew up in Bossier City, La. & left there for Texas a week after high school graduation to take a summer internship with the Texas Dept. of Agriculture in Pleasanton (south of San Antonio) before starting college in San Marcos at Swst. Texas State University Graduated in 1975 with a B.S. In Agriculture Marketing. College was GREAT...worked on ranches, a cattle feed lot, oil field, a burger joint...played in all the rivers & honky-tonks in the hill country between Austin & San Antonio. ired me & moved me to Houston. Divorced. Single with money for 3 years . Attained ASE certs. Quit FMC & went retail. Ran dealership service depts & body shops for 7 years then went to work for State Farm Ins. Married Tina June 14, 1986. We bought a 40 acre ranch outside of Houston. Had 3 kids-Aaron, Jessica, & Lauren. Raised kids, cattle, horses. Coached kids baseball, softball, basketball. Joined a trail ride association & made many annual trail rides into the Houston Life Stock Show & Rodeo. Had rodeo horses, trail horses & show cattle that kept us all very busy until the kids went off to college. Sold the ranch in 2013 & moved back to the city. Retired from State Farm on April 1, 2021.
