Rodney's Story
Rodney's schools include Napa High School. After high school I enlisted in the Navy. While home on leave June 1959, my girlfriend, Diane Harris (Class of 1962) & I were in a bad car accident & ended up hospitalized. Diane's mother took this opportunity to tell each one of us the other wanted to break up. I was told by her mother to never write, call, or try to visit. Since I felt so guilty, being the driver, even though I had done nothing wrong except fall asleep at the wheel, I complied. After being released from Travis AFB hospital, I reported to my base on Kingsville Texas. ffs Department in 1968. In 1973 I accepted a position with the Plumas County Sheriffs Department , in Quincy, CA where I stayed until I retired in 1992. In 2001 we moved to Lake Havasu City, AZ. My wife died of cancer in 2007. In April of 2009 I was searching for a classmate, Leman Wells. After that I typed Diane's name in the search. & found her name in Calistoga. I wrote her a snail mail letter on April 17, 2009 & found out it was her. Long story short, we were married on October 17, 2009. We moved to Lake Havasu City but she missed the Napa valley so, June 2012 we moved back to Napa. We now share her two kids, my two kids, her one granddaughter & my five grandkids. Life is good. It only took 50 years to learn the truth & get back together.
