Rodney's Story

Life Rod began writing software for microcomputers shortly after their introduction while completing his doctoral research in Pharmacology at Temple University School of Medicine. He has published in the area of neuropharmacology and has co-authored a book on the use of microcomputers in pharmacology research (Manual of Pharmacologic Calculations with Computer Programs, 2nd Edition, Springer-Verlag, NY, 1987). ter his postdoctoral fellowship in receptor pharmacology at Temple, he worked for Biosearch Incorporated, where he served as director of computer services and head pharmacologist, and finally as vice president of scientific affairs. In February 1987, Dr. Murray was recruited to direct the newly formed Office of Academic Computing at Thomas Jefferson University. Today, while continuing to teach pharmacology, he has focused his computer expertise on applying information technology to teaching and learning. He has overseen the development of numerous computer-based learning programs (CD-ROM and web-based) and has promoted the use of the World Wide Web in the curriculum.
